Official Children of the Nile site update

It has been two weeks since the last update, so today we could welcome another bunch of characters, a god, a new track and some screenshots.

The screenshots show a wide variety of beautiful aspects of the game. Ptah, the god who was not created but simply is, has been added to the pantheon of gods available in Children of the Nile. The Stone Carver and Nobleman are the two new citizens that have been released but we now also have the opportunity to meet yet another visitor from outside of the city, although this time it's a rather unpleasant person: a Raider.

Last but not least, Beloved of Ma'at is now available for download. A new MP3 track from Keith Zizza. You can find it all here.

A new article on Cats in Egypt

It began with felis silvestris libyca, or the African wild cat, with tawny yellow-gray fur and striped markings which provided ideal camouflage among the desert rocks and sand. This was a larger cat than the little ones of today, and a predator, not a scavenger. Occasionally among the multi-colored cats of modern Egypt, there are throw backs. The ancient Egyptian cat was the ancestor of many of our cats and represents one of the few remaining links with the ancient Egyptians. The animal has remained essentially the same and so are our feelings, prejudices and attitudes: we have that in common with those people of the past...

This is the introduction for the article Cats in ancient Egypt by Miut, who was so kind to write it for us. Covering four pages with wonderful information, the articles explains almost everything you ever wanted to know about the history of cats. You can find the it here.

Keep watching this here to see what more Miut has in store for you!

New videos and Sega website for CotN

Sega, the publisher of Children of the Nile for all non-North American countries, has opened their site for Children of the Nile here. You'll need Flash to see the site, but it's worth it.

Gamespot and 3D Gamers are now hosting the newest video of Children of the Nile. It's 16MB in size but, again, it's worth it!

Official Children of the Nile site update

It's that time again! The official website has been updated with yet another wonderful piece of music called The Garden of Egypt, Part II, also 3 new characters have been presented, the Furnisher, Sandal maker and Basket maker. The new god is Thoth, patron of the scribes.

Perhaps the best thing is a new Design Insight. The article is a "guide" for the video released earlier describing things you might have missed the first time you saw it. Did you notice the arriving merchants or the foundation for a future farmhouse? No? Better read it here!
