Mission 2
---------
At the beginning of this mission I was in pretty good shape. I had 63,000 cash, and the city had made a profit of over 8,000 the previous year. City population was 2340 housed in Elegant Dwellings, so the population goal was already met. Industry was producing surpluses of wood, creamics, tea, and stone, making these items were available for homage or gifts.
This mission required building a Grand Pagoda. Space had already been reserved for this structure, and most of the industry needed to supply the construction was already in place. All I had to do was select the site, connect it by road to the supplying industries, and put the necessary guilds nearby.
I had four food, four tea, and one hemp farm in operation. I felt I was producing enough food and hemp, but I needed to produce more tea to meet mission goals, so I added two more tea farms. Mission briefing hinted that I would need a lot of tea so, at the end of the first year, I summoned Bodhidharma.
My major goal was to form and keep alliances with every possible city, especially Xiongnu!
To this end, I would, at the beginning of each year, send large gifts of my surplus goods to all cities that needed them. In return I would request opening of trade, then alliance, and finally request either cash, silk or carved jade.
Aside from silk I did not buy and resell goods. nor did I adjust prices. I bought and stockpiled all the salt and spicies I could get my hands on, and used it for gifts to Xiongnu.
This city is still a work in progress, and I don't really know what it is going to look like when I finish the last mission.

Well, it's easy for me to guess what it will look like - a real beauty! The way you landscaped around the Grand Pagoda is simply stunning!
Looking forward to seeing the final version... [Edited on 08/17/04 @ 07:02 PM]

That ******* Pagoda has caused me more grief than the rest of the campaign combined. Twice I finished the entire campaign only to decide I didn't like the way it looked and restarted mission2 to move it around. The last rerun was made in order to move it THREE squares from where it was!!!
Before I touch that thing again, I swear I will delete Emperor from my system, use the CD as a beer coaster, and take up mumblety-peg.
