This emperor ROTMK custom campaign has three missions. It is about the survival, sustainance and rise of glory about a Chinese city named Banpo. The entire missions is set in Bronze Age.
It talks about a time when people settled in a place called Banpo. Slowly the pleasant conditions and the lush green landscapes attracted thousands of people to reside in this place. But slowly over population, deforestation and other human activites have eroded the beauty of this humble place. Rain has been erratic, rivers have almost dried and sand blows freely over fields that once supprted tufts of green grass. Moreover, invaders from the north feed on helpless people oftenly robbing the houses and collecting hefty ransoms.
Can you help in rebuilding this torn-out city? Can you revive the glory and stop people emigrating this settlement? The answer lies within you.

Hello Everyone!
Sorry for being away from the main map(this community) for quite sometime. Hope you are all doing fine :-)
This is my second mission after Asoka the Great. As per Gweilo's comments, I have rigorously tested the same for over a month so that the game is more playable than Asoka the Great campaign. Comments invited! |

Sampad, I noticed that the pak file you put in the zip file has a date stamp of 02/07/2003. That seems quite old for a campaign you are just now releasing. Is this the pak file you intended for us to play? If you had made any changes to the campaign or the maps over the last 5.5 years, you would have needed to regenerate the pak file before we could see those changes.[Edited on 12/10/08 @ 06:51 AM]

Gweilo, thanks for commenting. But I can assure you that the pak file is updated as of Dec '08. The problem is that there is a virus in my computer that changes the system date to an arbitrary date unless reset to the correct value. |

Playability: 4
The updated version of this campaign improved on playability. It provides good fun for an advanced player, provided that you enjoy the military aspect of this game (there are many invasions to deal with). There were a few small issues that lowered this rating some, but overall this campaign gets a thumbs up for playability. Some examples of things that lowered this rating are as follows: a drought in March of the first game year of mission 1 has no effect on the player, all 3 of the maps still have some black spots and morphed graphics, and the bugged menagerie request was used in mission 3. These are still only minor issues that do not detract from the fun very much.
Balance: 4
This is a challenging campaign, and in my opinion it probably should have been rated 'Very Hard' instead of just 'Hard'. The biggest reasons for this are the time limits on all the missions, and the early (and frequent) invasions. Some of the mission goals are a bit tight to achieve in the alotted time. This is definitely a campaign designed for advanced players, and they will not be bored. They should have a good gaming experience, especially if they play at the VH difficulty and strive for perfect Feng Shui.
Creativity: 4
There are alot of little touches that go into the creativity of a custom campaign, and I noticed many in this one. The storyline meshes very well with the maps and the mission goals. The predator spawn points were well-chosen for the missions, and are challenging. The scripted events were solid and supported the storyline.
Map Design: 3
Although the maps were roomy and were mated to mission goals that suited them, they did have some problems. For example all the maps had terrain graphic glitches in a few places. These are more commonly known as 'black spots' and 'morphed graphic tiles'. These spots are ugly, confusing to a player, and sometimes can cause gameplay issues. The readme file that comes in the download states that the graphic glitches are fixed, but I found that was not the case. However, these graphic problems are not very noticeable and therefore the maps are still ok. This updated version of the campaign featured maps with extra rocks and trees spread around, so perfect Feng Shui is more achievable while still maintaining a high replay value to the maps. The empire map was fine, showing clear trade routes and no icon overlay problems with the cities. To recap: the only reason this category is not rated higher is the graphic glitches.
Story/Instructions: 4
The story is strong and is only hampered by some spelling and sentence structure mistakes. The strength of the storyline is that it highlights why the grand canal was built and what its impact had on the city afterwards (this was very nicely tied-in by the design of the mission 3 map).
Additional Comments:
Overall, a fun playing experience that I recommend. Congratulations to the designer, and thanks for submitting a project that makes a great addition to our library of custom campaigns here at Emperor Heaven. [Edited on 01/03/09 @ 07:25 PM]

sampad, in addition to the black holes on the maps, also look for 'weird' graphic images. Weird graphic images are ones where two graphics morph into one, so they are not 'black hole' tiles, but they are undeciperable to a player nevertheless. I saw some of these on your maps. Look closely at the tiles for elevation changes in your hills and you will see what I mean. Some of these can cause gameplay issues as well as confuse a player. You should rework your maps by using the various elevation tools to remove these. |

Thanks Sampad, brill, failed on my first attempt, as Gwielo says it's a bit tight!!!
One thing I found was that BANPO begs for cash Jan199BCE I paid up and all was fine, but Banpo is Player City!
I am more of a gentle player, if you know what I mean....as the years have rolled by I need a quieter life, but then a challenge like yours stimulates the old brain again.
Thanks again |
