This campaign depicts a 100% fictional story. It is set between 200 and 160 BCE during the Han Dynasty, not long after the Warring States period which was a period of chaos and violence across China.
The story is also about a part of the legend around Shen Nong. Shen Nong is believed to have had a civilizing purpose in Chinese mythology by his knowledge of plants, agriculture and his discovery of tea.
Our fictional narrator, Chao, is a young boy who has lost his parents. He sets out on an epic journey accompanied by his little sister Lihua.
General information about the campaign:
*4 playable cities/4 custom maps (perfect Feng Shui possible)
*Difficulty level: hard/very hard
*No time limits
Everything is explained in the guide (.pdf and .doc) that contains spoilers and tips.

Finished first mission, looked over second...
Looks good though starting cash is low for a hard rating IMO...playing at VH...
not a 5 so far but a high 4s.
PS: In mission 2, is the Salt production goal of 34 a typo or do I need to look-up zodiac stuff? I looked it up and its doable but your spoiler doesn't mention it. Water year which depending on the players favorite choose may be inconvenient. I don't believe this is within the hard rating without some pre-instruction of which zodiacs are useful/should be avoided. I expect to cheat past this production goal.
has an animated graphic showing the zodiac progression.
year 189BCE Rat difficult but I managed it by sacrificing the planned city build.
year 188BCE Ox a better situation as the city is stabilizing
year 179BCE Dog that is the 11th year workable if late
year 178BCE Pig the 12th year
-169&168 Monkey/Rooster::god help the Rabbit/Tiger people::50 year is a long wait
Mission 2 final comment; too many people, wages way too low for my taste.
Mission 3 looks better despite the shredded pathing.

Hi user :)
Yes I agree that starting cash is low. I'd hesitated between hard and VH before. So I've changed the difficulty to VH.
In mission 2 you can achieve the production goal without "zodiac stuff".
You need to place 3 salt mines close to mills (for example one mill on the very North side- see the screen captures- and make sure that it's never full during the year). The mill should accept up to 32 salt canisters and during a whole year (any) have the three salt mines fully staffed and delivering the salt to the nearby mill(s) so the carriers will be back before production reaches 100%. It is possible to produce 34 canisters of salt with this method without an improved yied/production bonus. (I never used an improved production bonus during the year of my zodiac).

Silly me, I always used a warehouse.
Anyway, I looked through the rest of the campaign. I like M3 challenges but Feng Shui trees are lacking, so I'm going to play it at VE which should make it more enjoyable. M4 should be a quick build at VE. Returning to Linan, population goal issue again.
