Emperor: The Bureaucratic Examination

An Emperor Heaven 'Olympics' Competition

General Overview

Introduction

Emperor Heaven is proud to present its Bureaucratic Examination series of competition games. During May and June you will have the chance to play seven different games, designed to offer opportunities for you to show your skills and compete with your peers.

You will need not only military skills, but great economic expertise, and be a master of trade and commerce.  Who will be the most innovative, the fastest and the best Emperor players, but still find the time to build beautiful cities as well?

Now you can show what you have learned through countless hours of playing Emperor. Draw on the vast knowledge you have accumulated from reading forum posts, designing housing blocks, counting tiles and calculating production rates. The time has come to put all this to work for you and show all of China you are worthy of being its Emperor.

The Events

Emperor Heaven has put together a series of seven challenging games for you to play over a period of eight weeks. They vary both in length, usually two or three weeks each (one of six weeks), and in game type. You will find beauty, speed, economic, monument building, and military missions.

You may enter as many or as few of the events as you wish. Your chances of winning the overall competition will increase with the number of events you enter.

There are two classes of difficulty, Normal and Very Hard.

You will need to register in either the Normal Difficulty Registration thread or the Very Hard Registration thread before making your first competition game entry.

You can find more details about the overall schedule for the games on the [link] Events & Scoring page [/link], this page also has links to each of the seven game pages (as they become available).

Rules

Inevitably any competition of this size needs to have some basic rules and these can found in detail on the Competition Rules page. This covers all the do's and don'ts, you are strongly recommended to read it very carefully, it is your responsibility to know and comply with the rules.

Scoring

So how will we be scoring the games? Well each game has a set of Competition Criteria, these are the minimum requirements that your saved game competition entry must have, and Winning Criteria, which is how we will assess who is fastest, biggest or who has the most!

Players will then be allocated points according to their position in each game that they play. Each player's points will then be accumulated and a league table produced for each difficulty class.

The details can be found on the [link]the Events & Scoring page[/link], overall scores in each difficulty will be kept up-to-date on the League Tables pages.

Submitting an entry

You have to zip your saved game competition entry game using a programme such as Winzip (download it for free) or the compression utility in Windows XP, using the same naming convention.

The rules state you may only submit one entry for each game. You do this by going to the Competition Entry page, filling in the boxes (or choosing from the options available), you browse for the zipped file and clicking the 'submit completed form' button.

Finally...

We hope you find something to excite you and test your playing skills in all these games. Have fun!!

To participate in these competition games you must have the Emperor Update 1.0.1.0 patch installed.
