Emperor: The Bureaucratic Examination

An Emperor Heaven 'Olympics' Competition

Competition Rules

1. Introduction

Emperor Heaven is hosting its Emperor: The Bureaucratic Examination competition so that players can participate in a series of Emperor city building games to test their competitive skills against other players in a spirit of fun and fair play.

All other Emperor Heaven pages containing the title Emperor: The Bureaucratic Examination - An Emperor Heaven 'Olympics' Competition form part of, and should be read in conjunction with, this Competition Rules page. The Competition Rules may be amended by a Contest Designer/Organiser within the specific game rules.

2. Registration & Competition Difficulty

Competitions will be organised at two levels of difficulty, Normal and Very Hard. You will need to register in either the Normal Difficulty Registration thread or the Very Hard Registration thread before making your first competition game entry.

If a player enters without first registering, they will automatically be added to the difficulty level registration thread at which they made their first entry.

You must compete at the same level of difficulty for every game in the overall competition. If any competition game contains more than one mission, all missions must be played at your nominated difficulty level.

Any violation of this rule will result in the entry being judged as void.

3. Game Version

To participate in these competition games you must have the Emperor Patch 1.0.1.0 installed. You can download the patch from here

4. Game Saves

You must save your game every January. These saved games are not to be submitted with your entry, but may be asked for them during the evaluation. During game play, at the beginning of January each year, you will receive a message about an increased price of a good (the Contest Designer/Organiser will identify which good on the game page), this is a reminder to save your game.

Competition game pages may also contain other special instructions for making manual saves; for example, where a game contains more than one mission. You must follow these instructions.

5. Messages

You may not delete any of the messages you receive during the game, irrespective of their content.

6. Cheat Codes

You may not use any cheat codes, modify starting files or saved games with any programme other than the game itself, or edit the model files. All submitted entries will be checked, any violation will result in the entry being judged as void.

7. Game Discussion

No discussion or exchange of information about any aspect of your strategy or your results may take place on any forum or by any means whatsoever until the competition game has closed and an "official discussion thread" has been opened by the Competition Designer/Organiser or an Emperor: The Bureaucratic Examination staff member.

Any query, which a competitor considers might contravene this rule if posted on a forum, should be raised with the Competition Designer/Organiser by email, the details of which should be found on the Game Page.

8. Competition Game Entry

It is the player's own responsibility to ensure their entry is valid. You may only submit one entry to a competition. If you submit more than one entry, only the first entry will be evaluated.

If a competition game contains more than one mission you may be required to submit files for each mission, the game page will contain special instructions when this applies.

Saved game entry files should be submitted using the form on the Emperor Downloads Page To upload your entry, select Submit. Then select the E:BE Submissions (this is very important) and go through the regular procedures. Please fill in the title of the map (i.e. the game specific title which includes your name). The Short Description and File Description can be filled with EBE, or the File Description can be used to add information about your entry. Next select the proper Contest (name) and Difficulty tags. Once you have filled in everything you can press the Submit button.

9. Evaluation

Saved game competition entries will be evaluated initially against the game Competition Criteria to confirm their validity; valid entries will then be assessed against the Winning Criteria to establish the  position of each entry.

The decision of the Competition Designer/Organiser or an Emperor: The Bureaucratic Examination staff member in any competition is final and will be binding on any and every player.

10. Breach of the Rules

Failure to abide by the competition rules will result in an entry being judged as void. Persistent offenders (that is, players who have been found to contravene the rules more than once) may also be barred from further competitions in the Emperor: The Bureaucratic Examination series of competition games.

To participate in these competition games you must have the Emperor Update 1.0.1.0 patch installed.
You can download it from here
