Hills of Koguryo
Wu Di, the great Martial Emperor, has cast his eyes upon the hills of Koguryo, for it is there he wishes to establish a new city to expand the Han empire north and east. Earlier probles into this region indicate the presence of salt deposits, which can be mined for export. The Korean natives are aggressive, however, and none too friendly. Do not expect them to greet this intrusion with a humble bow.
To facilitate the dissemination of our culture, and so that your citizens' spiritual needs can be met, our emperor suggests that a Great Temple be built. Such a temple will delight our creator goddess, Nu Wa, and embolden the spirit of Confucius, sage of all time.
Expect a shipment of high quality iron from Chang-an before the first year is at an end. More will arrive as it can be spared. Weaponsmiths should be built to craft the iron into strong weapons. Troops will be needed to protect your city; do not neglect its defenses. Excess weapons, if any, can be exported to other cities of the empire, notably Chengdu and Jiaozhou.

City - Lo-lang
|
I started this mission by building a common housing block close to the entrance point. I decided against building Elite housing as with no palace available only 1 fort was possible anyway.
I first concentrated on getting food, first from fishing then farming, and hemp to my housing. Then I started a small ceramics industry and started logging wood, mainly for the Temple but also a little for taxes, and also started mining salt.
When the mission begins trade routes to Kashgar and Chang-an are open. I requested all the other cities to become trade partners and Guangzhou and Chengdu agreed. Yin, Fuzhou and Jiazhou were Apathetic, Hanan displeased. From then I ignored Hanan and hoped it wouldn't invade which luckily it didn't. Guangzhou was useless for trade but Chengdu would buy weapons which would provide most of my profit in the mission. My other trade was in selling salt to Kashgar and Chengdu
Before the end of the first year I built a trading quay with Chang-an and imported the maximum 12 iron for the year in preparation for eventually meeting the 25 weapons in a year goal. A gift of 8 iron in Oct meant I had enough iron to start producing the 25 weapons in the 2nd year so placed 5 weaponsmiths about December, let them be stocked with iron then turned them off till February. I produced 30 weapons that year.

The available Heroes in this mission were Nu Wa, Shen Nong, Huang Di, Confucius, Sun Tzu and Xi Wang Mu. Without Elite housing I couldn't call Confucius or Sun Tzu and while I did consider Xi Wang Mu to possibly speed up the building of the Temple I decided it was a small monument and would probably be built before the 36 months of Heroes was met, Xi Wang Mu or not. Therefore I called Huang Di, he arrived in March 107, and most of the time I had him patrolling my housing helping to supply ceramics. I placed my Great Temple to the east among the trees, disconnected from the rest of the city. It was finished in January 106, well before the Hero goal was met. |
Chang-an increased the iron it would sell and also gave another gift of iron. I was staying out of debt and making a small profit now. Then in January 105, with 34 months of Heroes achieved, disaster in the form of an earthquake struck. The date for this earthquake is variable, and I gather that this occurred in the earlier part of the timeframe for it. It was a fairly devastating event, every single house and most of my industry etc was destroyed. I had very good inspector coverage, with one enhanced tower in my housing block, but it would take a few enhanced inspectors in the block to really reduce the damage of this particular earthquake.
Luckily Huang Di was happy enough when it occured and he didn't mind wandering around a devastated city until Feb 105 when I finished with a treasury of 6408 and a population of 0.
