Song Jin – Genghis at Zhongdu
What Genghis Khan wants he usually gets. Stymied by our defenses at Juyongguan, the Mongul leader has turned to his envoy, Tsabar, a former emissary to Zhongdu. Evidently this Tsabar knew of a hidden path through the woods off to the north. Using this secret way around our flank, the fortress city of Juyongguan fell. The Monguls are on their way to Zhongdu!
Upgrade our defenses at Zhongdu quickly young architect. The Great Khan’s army will be upon us before long. If you can defeat him the Jin Dynasty will have written a glorious new chapter in the long history of our great land. Take this opportunity to then expand Zhongdu growing it into a city that will be unsurpassed in the imperial records of China
City – Zhongdu
Starts Feb 1210
Starting cash carried forward from Song-Jin5
Requirements:
- Grand Pagoda must be built
- Population of 6000
- 250 People in Heavenly Compound or better
- 72 Months of Heroes
In this mission you return to the city you built in mission 5. I finished mission 5 with a population of 3556 so needed another 2444 people to meet the population goal. I therefore built another common housing block on the other side of the Large Palace from the elite block, where I had left space for it originally. I already had met the goal of 250 people in Heavenly Compounds, having 300, but built one more elite house anyway because I had the space in the block for it.
In the first month I gave Xi Wang Mu homage of a great gift of wood as I had plenty spare, which made her elated and she arrived in the city the next month. I had her regularly blessing jade carvers for the rest of the mission so I was able to sell 48 carved jade most years. This did take a lot of homage gifts but I had plenty of excess labour and was overproducing almost everything so this was easy to do. She remained in the city for the next 72 months until that goal was met and the mission was won.
The other goal was building the Grand Pagoda. I placed it at the end of the Elite Block and it was completed in Feb 1214.
I already had two forts and decided to build one more in case the Monguls attacked. They did send an invasion force in April 1214 but I bribed them with 10800 cash. Since this was an extremely profitable mission, making over 50,000 cash profit per year in the later years, this bribe was a minor inconvenience.
To help keep myself busy while waiting for the 72 months of heroes to pass I decided to fill my menagerie with animals and ended up with the whole 9 animals. I also spent a lot of money beautifying my housing blocks well past what was necessary for housing evolution, simply to make it an attractive city.
