Trading and Commerce

It is a pleasure that you could join us again, honourable village elder. Your wisdom and guiding hand has ably served the town of Banpo. Previously, you laid out the village's houses and other community structures, kept the population fed on game meat and millet, established a booming ceramics industry and -- with generous homage offerings -- attracted the venerable Creator Goddess, Nu Wa. Now wheat, another nutritious grain, can be grown to supplement the harvest. More importantly, however, a world beckons beyond your village walls. Already, explorers have departed Banpo in hopes of discovering other towns. As leader, you will soon learn how to interact with other cities of China.

City - Banpo
Starts Feb 1934 BCE
6000 starting cash on all levels

Requirements:
  • 500 people in Elegant Dwelling or better
  • 1 trading partner
  • Produce 4 jade carvings in one year

Follow the on-screen instructions as before. Here you learn how to grow 2 crops on one farm, provide appetizing food, provide ceramics to the houses, establish trade and produce jade carvings from imported uncut jade. An Elegant Dwelling holds 52 people, so you will need at least 10 evolved and fully populated.

I was getting a bit overwhelmed by food, hemp and ceramics by this time, so sent some in homage and turned some of the industries off temporarily. I received a gift of 3 uncut jade in August 1933 so make sure there's room in a warehouse at round about that time. I imported uncut jade and exported ceramics. There is a hint that another trade route may be discovered and that they will buy your jade carvings but I finished before that happened. Note that the 4 jade carvings are produced in a calendar year (February - January) so even if you produce 4 in February you will have to wait until the end of the year for victory.
